In this study a mouth spray ( Janina ultra white oral fresh spray, Janina International Ltd., Kent, England ) is tested, its effect on microorganisms which can be found complete denture wearers. For this purpose 25 patients are selected (x=68) They are wearing their present dentures on average for 3 years. Patients' dentures were firstly cleaned in ultrasonic cleaners for 5 minutes and secondly polished for 3 minutes by a technician. After that patients were instructed not to clean their dentures for 3 days. When the patients came back for recall, firstly smears were taken from the palatal surface of upper dentures which was used as a control. Then the mouth spray is sprayed on the palatal surface of the upper denture. In the first group 10 minutes after, in the second group 15 minutes after and in the third group 30 minutes after smears are taken. Results showed that 30 minutes after using the spray no microorganisms were found on the samples. % 60 and % 30 reductions were seen in microorganisms after 15 minutes and 10 minutes respectively. On the other hand in the control group several type of microorganisms were found. It can be concluded that the newly introduced mouth rinsing spray is efficient for disinfecting the complete dentures.
